Annual Conference - 2010
After consultation with colleagues and several discussions of the Board, we regret to announce that OPGA will not be hosting its annual conference this year. As everyone is aware, funding to support educational events is increasingly limited and similar events in the planned area have run in the recent past. As a result, we cannot guarantee to our invited speakers that there will be attendance to warrant the special time and effort each of them would have made on OPGA’s behalf. As well, we recognize that we must be accountable to our members and going forward with the conference would not be fiscally prudent.
This also means that a formal presentation of the recipient of this year’s OPGA Recognition Award will not be made as it was planned for presentation at the conference. However, we have received numerous excellent nominations and a winner will be selected and the award presented to that top choice. Further details of this exciting event will follow.
We will be in touch with members in the coming weeks, with details of their opportunity to participate in a review of the past year’s efforts, receive a financial report and a report from the OPGA auditors.
The conference is a cornerstone of the work that OPGA conducts each year and we have not taken this decision lightly. We hope that our members will understand and support our decision.
