Assisting the Elderly with your help
The Ontario PsychoGeriatric Association (OPGA) is an
interdisciplinary association dedicated to enhancing the quality of life
of the elderly. OPGA was founded in 1974 to bring together professionals,
seniors and students who are interested in psychogeriatrics and all aspects
of the well-being of the aged.
OPGA is a leading voice
for those serving older persons with mental health needs across Ontario
through:
- Leadership
promoting psychogeriatrics and all aspects of the well-being of the aged with a focus on health promotion, illness prevention and related care approaches
- Networking & Partnership
providing an interdisciplinary forum for the exchange of information representing community and institutional perspectives and encouraging basic and applied research concerning innovative approaches to the care of the aged.
- Education & Support
developing educational resources on a variety of topics that are of direct relevance to professionals, seniors, caregivers, students and policy makers.
- Advocacy
facilitating dialogue and working cooperatively with Federal, Provincial and Municipal decision-makers supporting quality of life for seniors.
